On Saturday and Sunday, October 2nd and 3rd, 2010 ~

2010 Filmanthropy Festival “Open Your Eyes”

This unique event is a canvas for instigating and inspiring change. This innovative Festival showcases films that inspire, educate, raise awareness and motivate, so that audiences may open their minds and their hearts to creating a better world. Filmmakers selected to participate in this pioneering event vie for "The Torch Awards," and the opportunity to support their favorite charity. Upon submitting, filmmakers are asked to select a charity close to them for which they hope to raise funds and awareness. The Festival's net proceeds are split three ways, donated to the charities supported by the Torch Award-winning filmmakers in the following three categories: Best Short, Best Feature and Audience Favorite.

The Filmanthropy Festival is a means to use, support and promote film as a way to help make the world a better place while, at the same time, also honoring the very medium in which those issues are presented.

Sweat for Tashirat

We will be celebrating Tashirat and raising awareness
for this amazing Ashram, Orphanage and School
located in the mountains South of Mexico City.

Since its founding in 1993, the Tashirat staff members have
served the neediest sectors of society, providing yoga,
counseling, classes in natural medicine, hygiene, literacy, and
basic and remedial education. In 2003, the Tashirat Foundation
staff decided that the greatest service they could provide the
surrounding community would be to open an orphanage.
